Why make a vegan Christmas movie?!

• Cultural impact: A vegan message in the mainstream will help make veganism less "weird" and intimidating and more accessible.

• Story-powered activism: Many viewers will be less defensive and more receptive to a vegan message delivered in story form. 

• New model: While we're testing the documentary film model of change-making, we have yet to explore the narrative model, with a few rare exceptions like Okja on Netflix. Fiction can be a major opportunity to earn better vegan representation.

• Market demand: Christmas movies are a booming genre in the U.S. and, increasingly, internationally. 

• Distribution potential: There is high demand among many platforms, including: Lifetime, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, Hulu, OWN, BET, Great American Family, HBO, Apple, UPtv, Peacock, CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, and IFC.

• Evergreen content: Audiences return to holiday movies every season, so it is a long time before the content grows stale.

• High ROI: Holiday movies can be made on a low budget to yield a higher profit margin than most other genres.

• Branding opportunities: There are plenty of exciting tie-in, product placement, and merch opportunities (e.g., secret vegan recipes)?

• Attract talent: Actors, directors, and even crew with vegan-aligned values will want to get involved (and already have!).
